Vox Populi, Vox Dei (Latin, 'the voice of the people is the voice of God')—I’m not sure to what extent this statement is true. However one thing is certain, any responsible leader must heed the voice of his/ her people. We all can agree that the American people have spoken. It is on that note that I’d like to congratulate President Elect Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. and Vice President-Elect Kamala Devi Harris.
While the transition process has begun, we need to be mindful that the country is deeply polarized and divided. It will take astute and wise leadership to move the country forward through the desperately needed healing process. Joe has proven to possess this kind of leadership to “restore the soul of this great nation.” Thus, we must brace ourselves to grace the new dawn in America and the rest of the world.
To my Haitian nationals, allow me to borrow the words of a Haitian Economist, Kesner Pharel, “Lè Etazini gen tous, Ayiti gen nemony.” Therefore, we must organize ourselves and ensure that all of our newly elected and re-elected officials, most importantly Joe and Kamala, keep their promises to our community and our homeland.
